An Unusual Canvas

Talk about an ephemeral art form: these artists are creating artwork on dirty car windows. I can't believe the depth they can achieve with such an ordinary medium.

Of course if I saw this done on MY car, I would seriously hesitate to wash it for some time to come...

See more car window art.

I wonder how long it takes him to do each drawing. These must be on the windshields of vehicles he owns because the windows are too dirty to see through and the length of time it must take him to draw these is longer than the average trip inside the dry cleaners - this is clear.Yet fascinating. And amazing. This is yet another artist we've featured on this blog - like the guy who makes art in the sand and the other artist who draws on the sidewalk - that isn't menat to be permanent. When all three of these artists' work meets water (be it a wave, rain, or (gulp) car wash) they are gone. Is this a trend in art - or is it something unique to all three of these talented artists that they are okay with creating something so temporary? Or perhaps - and I'm just thinking out loud here - they are uncomfortable creating the type of work that is meant to hang on a wall and be displayed and critiqued for all of time. Interesting.
